Itinerary
DAY 1: CITY TOUR - CONVENT OF SANTA CATALINA PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY
Reception in the city of Arequipa and transfer to the hotel.
14:00 Hrs. We will start our City Tour visiting the Main Square, one of the most beautiful in Peru; the Cathedral, an example of Peruvian architecture during the XIX century that houses precious treasures of gold and silver; and the Church of La Compañía, a former Jesuit temple, perhaps the most important in Arequipa for its history and tradition. With a beautiful facade with columns carved with spirals, laurel wreaths, flowers, birds, etc.. Then we will visit the convent of Santa Catalina, a "small city" of the seventeenth century opened to the public in 1970 after 400 years of cloister, transporting visitors four centuries in the past. You will tour numerous spacious courtyards and gardens, the kitchen and slave quarters and the convent's stone washhouses.
17:00 Hrs. Return to the hotel.
Overnight in Arequipa.
DAY 2: FULL DAY COLCA
03:00 Hrs. approx. Pick up from downtown hotel
06:30 Hrs. approx. Breakfast in Chivay,
07:00 Hrs. approx. Departure from Chivay to the viewpoint "Cruz del Condor", on the way we will have a stop in the town of Yanque to visit its colonial church and appreciate dances.
08:30 Hrs. approx. Arrival at the Cruz del Condor, from this point you can observe the flight of the condor and also the depth of the canyon (4280m).
10:30 Hrs. approx. On the way back we will visit small villages and viewpoints such as:
Mirador del viento Wayra Punku: To contemplate colorful terraces.
Mirador de Antahuilque: You can observe terraces in the form of an amphitheater.
Choquetico Viewpoint, The Hanging Tombs: Place where you can find Litomaquetas made by ancient Collahuas.
Maca Church: It has beautiful altars made of gold leaf.
11:30 Hrs. approx. The bus will take us to the relaxing Thermo Medicinal Baths.
12:30 Hrs. approx. time for lunch in Chivay.
14:00 Hrs. approx. Departure to Arequipa, on the way we will visit:
Patapampa, the highest point of the tour, considered the viewpoint of the volcanoes: Ampato Volcano, Walka Walka and Sabancaya (4850 m.a.s.l.).
National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca: where you will appreciate the natural habitat of vicuñas.
17:00 Hrs. approx. Arrival to the city of Arequipa.
Overnight in Arequipa.
DAY 3: DEPARTURE TRANSFER
Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure transfer.
