In the heart of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, you will find the fascinating Cumaceba Amazon Lodge, located in the Pacaya Samiria natural reserve in Loreto. Itinerary:

DAY 1: IQUITOS - CURAKA EXPEDITIONS

Transfer from the airport or hotel. Walk through the center of the city visiting the Matriz Church, Casa de Fierro, Malecon Maldonado, historic houses of the rubber era. Transfer to the river port to board the outboard motor boat. We will navigate the Itaya River for 15 minutes and then enter the longest and largest river in the world, the Amazon, natural wonder, information about the Amazon, search for gray dolphins and pink buffaloes. We will navigate the Amazon to Curaka Expeditions. Reception with seasonal fruit refreshments. General information. Assignment of private bungalows. Typical lunch - juane. Afternoon walk through the jungle getting to know the flora and fauna and the biodiversity of the area. Night walk through the jungle listening to the variety of sounds emitted by insects, batrachians, birds and others. Canoe excursion, depending on the season. Dinner. Jungle stories narrated by the guide.

DAY 2: CURAKA EXPEDITIONS - WILDLIFE AND LOCAL CUSTOMS TOUR
Bird watching in their habitat on foot or by canoe. Breakfast. Excursion to visit a riverside dweller where we will appreciate non-poisonous boa constrictors, sloths, turtles and others. We will also learn how to extract the juice of sugar cane in a traditional way, tasting the juice and its derivatives such as cane rum, molasses. Return to the lodge. Typical lunch - fish. In the afternoon visit to the riverside village ''GALLITO'' to know part of their daily activities. Depending on the weather conditions we will observe a wonderful sunset. Dinner.  Overnight at the lodge.
DAY 3: CURAKA EXPEDITIONS - VICTORIA REGIA AND MEDICINAL TREES TOUR

Breakfast. Fishing on the banks of the Amazon River: catfish, piranhas, among others. Observation of the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world. Return to the lodge and typical lunch. Time to relax in the hammocks and/or swimming pool area. In the afternoon, we will walk around the area, knowing plants and trees whose fruits are used by the locals, with medicinal power, we will appreciate the historic rubber tree or balata, cedar, and the voluptuous lupuna. Dinner.

DAY 4: OVERNIGHT CAMPING

Breakfast. Time to prepare for the trek into the virgin jungle. We will walk approximately 1.30 hours getting to know the flora and fauna. We will make our first stop where food is prepared for lunch. We will continue walking to the Yanayacu River, where we will camp and spend the night in our tents and mosquito nets. After dinner, we will take a night walk to see the nocturnal wildlife.

DAY 5: CURAKA EXPEDITIONS - IQUITOS

Breakfast. Fishing on the banks of the Yanayacu river, possible piranhas and catfish. Return to Curaka Lodge. Typical self-service lunch. Free time to read or simply rest in our peaceful hammock house. Special time to take pictures. Typical lunch - cecina con tacacho. Departure to Iquitos. On the way we will visit the native Bora community, customs, dialect, clothing, typical dances. It is recommended to bring objects to exchange with handmade crafts. Arrival to the city. 

Transfer to the airport or hotel.

Recommendations for visiting the jungle
  1. Bring light colored clothes, windbreaker jacket, hat, sunglasses, water bottle, hiking shoes, flashlight, repellent, sun block, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory pills for the effects of mosquito bites and for your stay in the city bring clothes according to your taste. The use of boots and plastic rain poncho is necessary during your stay in the jungle. Ask for cost at the Lodge. 
  2. To indicate to your travel agent any restrictions in your diet and/or any health condition, to prevent and avoid inconveniences in the jungle excursions.
  3. Children travel under the full responsibility of the parents. It is recommended from 3 years old onwards.
  4. VACCINATIONS, it is not mandatory, all our excursions take place in NON ENDEMIC zones free of epidemics such as malaria, dengue and yellow fever. At the request of the passenger can be vaccinated 10 days before your trip to the jungle. Consult with your doctor.
  5. Luggage in custody, leave them in our office for the days you will be in the jungle, likewise it is recommended not to carry more than S/. 180 or 200 soles for consumption expenses at the bar and purchase of handicrafts. In case of having valuables, please declare them to the personnel in charge. FREE OF CHARGE.
  6. The company is not responsible for loss of objects and accessories that are under its responsibility and that have not been declared or placed in custody, it is recommended to carry in a personal bag (kangaroo, backpack) all these personal items, as well as documents and money. In case of any incident, immediately communicate to the lodge manager, in second instance in the Cumaceba Iquitos offices for immediate solution, otherwise there will be no place to claim after the end of the service.
  7. The Cumaceba Group provides electric current from 18:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs to supply electric charge to the batteries of electronic equipment, such as cameras, cell phones, video cameras, etc.
  8. Present your coded service voucher to the transfer staff upon receipt, this document contains the contracted services that will be provided upon your arrival in the city of Iquitos.
  9. FOR THE EXCURSIONS: Take into account and respect the indications of the guide for the fulfillment of the program. The order of the excursions may vary due to weather conditions. Average temperature in IQUITOS 28° - 35°.
  10. Bring swimwear and accessories for the use of the pool (Cumaceba Curaka Inn - Cumaceba Botanical Garden) and passengers who have tour to Quistococha.
  11. It is absolutely PROHIBITED to carry firearms, knives or any other type of weapon that may endanger your stay and other passengers.
  12. For people of good heart and charitable soul who wish to share with the children and adults of the native communities, you can bring summer clothes, toys or food to donate. This is not mandatory.
  13. HOTELS IN IQUITOS, if taken directly coordinate their respective transfers and contracted services, it is not the responsibility of Cumaceba, the failure of any hotel service. It is recommended to take all services with us city and jungle to have greater control of the service.
