DAY 3: PACHACAMAC

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning pick up from the hotel. We start our service visiting Barranco, one of the smallest districts and at the same time the bohemian area of Lima. We will appreciate its square, Puente de los Suspiros, Chabuca Granda Monument, La Ermita and the Bajada de Baños. Then we will pass through Chorrillos. The name of this district was made in allusion to the subway fresh water streams that flowed from the cliffs to the side of the Agua Dulce beach, and for being a fishing village, so it was officially called San Pedro de los Chorrillos.

For more than twelve hundred years, during the pre-Hispanic period, Pachacamac was the most important sanctuary on the coast. Its prestige is mainly due to its oracle, which was consulted by curacas and principal lords who came from all over ancient Peru in long pilgrimages that were part of a great Andean ritual. The god Pachacamac was very feared, since he was attributed the power to make the earth tremble. The important temples erected in his sanctuary demonstrate the importance he had for a long time.
