The magic begins with the bird songs of the Amazonian paradise, waking up to the song of the howler monkey. A succulent breakfast will provide you with the necessary energy for a morning full of new experiences.
COCHA PERDIDA: After breakfast, we will start an adventure through the virgin jungle, accompanied by our local guide, we will hike into the deep forest: we will walk along well-preserved trails prepared for our interpretative circuit. Along the way, we will cross temporary watercourses called caños, through bridges in very good condition and we will witness the widest range of species of flora and fauna in the wild. 21 We will see a great variety of ornamental plants of incomparable beauty. On the way to the Cocha Perdida, we will identify species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees that sustain the animal populations in the Amazonian forests. If we are lucky, we may spot large mammals like the jaguar or otorongo, the sachavaca and the huangana; rodents like the giant otter, the ronsoco, the majaz and the armadillo; primates like the coto or howler monkey and the puffin; reptiles like the iguana and the jergón; amphibians like the toad and birds like the guan, the partridge, the golden parakeet and the red, blue and yellow macaw. The rivers leave in their wake wetland systems of lakes, oxbow lakes and meanders, such as the spectacular Cocha Perdida. The wetlands play a very important ecological role, as they represent a substantial biological focus with endemic species. They are a refuge for mammals. These wetlands make up seventy percent of the area that Eco Amazonia Lodge protects and restores. The presence of the aguaje is very important for the Amazonian ethnic groups. It is a plant of mystery. The aguaje is the mother of the forest or tree of life. The aguajal is home to jealous guardians such as the feline jaguar considered the son of the aguajal, the anaconda, the largest snake in the world, the owl that sees everything from its abode at the top of its canopy to provide relief to all evils, and the black caiman guardian that punishes anyone who dares to bring down the female aguajes. Once in the Cocha Perdida, we will ascend to an enormous observation platform. From this viewpoint, you will appreciate the enormous surface that covers this magical place where you will be able to appreciate two types of aguajales: dense and mixed. Then we will take a pleasant walk around the Cocha Perdida and if you are lucky, you will be able to see the "giant otter" Pteronurabrasiliensis, the largest of its kind and one of the most impressive animals of the Amazon. Back at the lodge you will enjoy a delicious lunch. 22 In the afternoon, free time for photography around the lodge, you will also have the possibility to visit the botanical garden and observe our medicinal and fruit plants. In the evening you can enjoy our delicious dinner. If your body allows it, you can enjoy a fun night in our bar and game room.
